Tourist Attractions:
Hermesvilla
is an imperial villa in the Lainzer Tiergarten (in the Auhof and Laab im Walde), Vienna that was a present from emperor Franz Joseph I to his wife empress Elisabeth. The villa was built in 1886 under the architect Karl von Hasenauer in the style of a historic country manor house. The interior decoration and paintings were arranged and executed by Hans Makart. Today it is a museum housing memorabilia of the empress.
Hofburg Imperial Palace
is a palace in Vienna, Austria, which has housed some of the most powerful people in Austrian history, including the Habsburg dynasty, rulers of the Austro-Hungarian empire. It currently serves as the official residence of the President of Austria. It was the Habsburg's principal winter residence, while Schönbrunn Palace was their preferred summer residence.
The Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper)
is an opera house - and opera company - with a history dating back to the mid-19th century. It is located in the centre of Vienna, Austria. It was originally called the Vienna Court Opera (Wiener Hofoper); in 1920, it was renamed the Vienna State Opera. The members of the Vienna Philharmonic are recruited from its orchestra.
St. Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom) is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Vienna and the seat of the Archbishop of Vienna, Christoph Cardinal Schönborn, OP. Its current Romanesque and Gothic form seen today, situated at the heart of Vienna, Austria in the Stephansplatz, was largely initiated by Rudolf IV and stands on the ruins of two earlier churches, the first being a parish church consecrated in 1147. As the most important religious building in Austria's capital, the cathedral has born witness to many important events in that nation's history and has, with its multi-colored tile roof, become one of the city's most recognizable symbols.
